Fifty-two new COVID cases recorded

Fifty-two new COVID-19 cases were yesterday  registered as cases in the country continue to rise daily.

This was revealed in the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 dashboard which showed that Guyana’s total confirmed cases increased to 7,067. The cases came after some 352 more persons were tested for the virus. The total number of persons tested in Guyana for the virus now stands at 45,427.

According to the dashboard the cases were recorded in eight of the ten administrative regions; two cases each in Regions One, Five, Seven and Nine while seven cases were recorded in Region Three, 29 in Region Four, one in Region Six and seven in Region Ten. The additional cases recorded in Region Four pushed the total number of cases recorded in the Region to 3,028. With that Region Four remains the region that has recorded the most COVID-19 cases since the initial outbreak in March 2020.

There are now 590 active cases, 19 of whom are in institutional isolation while the other 580 are in home isolation. The number of persons in the country’s COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit has decreased to six.
