Seventy-six new COVID cases registered, 56 from Region Four

Seventy-six new COVID-19 cases were yesterday recorded with fifty-six of these coming from Region Four.

This is according to the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 dashboard which showed that the 76 new cases increased the total amount of confirmed cases in the country to 7,143. These came after some 438 more persons were tested for the virus and as a result a total of 45,865 persons have been tested for COVID-19 in Guyana so far.

The new cases were reported in eight of Guyana’s ten administrative regions; four in Region One, five in Region Three, 56 in Region Four, one case each in Regions Five, Eight and Nine while six cases were recorded in Region Six and two in Region Ten. As a result there are now 638 active cases in the country, 34 in institutional isolation while 604 are in home isolation. The number of persons in the country’s COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit has increased to seven.

Meanwhile, 11 persons remain in quarantine while 51 more recoveries have been recorded, this means that the total number of persons to have recovered from COVID-19 in Guyana now stands at 6,328.
