COVID death toll at 208

Guyana’s death toll from COVID-19 now stands at 208.

This was revealed by the Ministry of Health which stated in a press release yesterday that another person who was tested positive for the virus succumbed. This individual was identified as an 89-year-old woman from Region Three.

Meanwhile, some 27 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded yesterday, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 9,187. The new cases came after some 509 more persons were tested for the virus. As a result the total number of persons tested to date now stands at 76,415.

There are now 661 active cases in the country, 37 of whom are in institutional isolation while another 624 are in home isolation. There are eight patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit even as a total of 8,311 persons have recovered from the virus to date.
