Enmore motorcyclist dies after collision

An Enmore, East Coast Demerara (ECD) motorcyclist died yesterday morning following a collision with a canter truck along Melanie, ECD Public Road.

Dead is Leon Singh, 31.

Police confirmed the accident which occurred around 9.30am.

The driver, a 43-year-old resident of Bachelors Adventure, ECD, is currently in police custody assisting with the investigation.

According to the police, enquiries revealed that motor lorry, GSS 5634 was proceeding north along the western side of the Melanie Access Road when the driver failed to stop at a corner.

Instead, the police said the driver continued north onto the public road and into the path of Singh.

Singh was riding motorcycle, CH 3066 west on the said road.

“The front of the motor cycle collided into the right side front of motor lorry # GSS 563,” the police said.

As a result of the collision, Singh fell on the road.

He sustained injuries about his body including his head and was picked up in an unconscious condition and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).

Singh died while receiving medical attention.
