Everest Cricket Club completed an innings and 108-run win over Third Class over the weekend in the lone Georgetown Cricket Association/ Noble House Seafoods,second-division, two-day tournament.

Playing at the Camp Road and Carifesta Avenue-based Everest Ground, the visitors won the toss and asked Everest to bat under overcast conditions. Everest posted 251 for one declared.

They then dismissed 3rd class for 72 in their first innings and 79 in their second.

Everest’s batting centered around West Indies under-19 prospect, Matthew Nandu who chalked up a responsible 106 not out. His innings, which followed his patient 96 in the last round, was highlighted by nine fours and two sixes.

Nandu was a mere spectator at the other end early on as Saheed Mohamed made a quick-fire 60 in a 75-run opening stand. Mohamed was off the mark with a boundary and went on to carve eight more, including a six before being bowled by Lenny Pramchan (1-41).

The 17-year-old Nandu also added 51 for the second wicket with Dwayne Adams who stroked three fours and one six before retiring on 23.

The national youth player then put on  a third-wicket partnership with out-of-favour first-class player, Amir Khan, who raced to 53 not out, highlighted by five fours and two sixes.

Third Class’ first innings was routed by Javed Rasheed, who spun webs around the inexperienced side to return 5-17.

He was supported by Demerara under-19 pacer, Ariel Tilku, with 2-10 and Khan, who returned to take 2-14 with his leg-spin.

The visitors closed the first day on 69 for eight but lost their final two wickets in the space of three overs.

David Gouveia top scored with 15 while Roberto Gill (11), Pramchan (10) and Teekaran George (10) were the only batsmen to reach double figures.

Asked to follow-on, Tilku troubled the batting order to return 3-9. He got  support from David Williams (3-13) and Mohamed (2-25). Gouveia also top scored in the second innings with 14  while Gill made 13.
