Festival City family charged with assaulting neighbours

A construction worker, his wife, and daughter, were on Wednesday  separately charged with assaulting their neighbours.

Arrandel Peters, 40, a construction worker, Sharon Peters, 40, a housewife, and their daughter Naomi Peters, 19, all of Busta Dam, Squatting Area, Festival City, Georgetown, were before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court when they were placed on self-bail after denying the charges.

The charge against the construction worker states that on April 2, at Festival City Squatting Area, he unlawfully assaulted Marvin Thomas, so as to cause actual bodily harm. His  wife and daughter were separately charged with unlawfully assaulting Sharon Hedley on the same date and at the same location.

The court heard that the two women and Hedley had an exchange of words which led to the youngest Peters pelting the teen with bricks and then her mother, Mrs Peters intervened and also assaulted the virtual complainant. Following the incident, Thomas and Mr Peters had an argument and both men assaulted each other.

It was indicated by the police prosecutor that the virtual complainants would like to settle the matter, however, when Thomas was asked by the Magistrate if this is true he did not respond.

The matter was then adjourned until May 11.
