Two men from Regions Four and Five succumb to COVID-19

Two additional COVID-19 fatalities were recorded yesterday and 137 new cases were reported.

The Ministry of Health yesterday announced that the country’s death toll now stands at 293 as a 73-year-old man from Region Four and a 64-year-old man from Region Five succumbed. They both died while receiving care at medical facilities.

Meanwhile the country’s total number of positive confirmed cases now stands at 12,963 which came after 1,576 more persons were tested. As a result the total number of persons tested now stands at 120,028. According to the Ministry’s dashboard, the new cases were reported eight regions; three in Region One, 12 in Region Two, 25 in Region Three, and 66 in Region Four. In addition, two cases were reported in Region Five, 18 in Region Six, while four were from Region Seven and seven in Region Ten.

There are now 1,587 active cases, 82 of whom are in institutional isolation while another 1,505 are in home isolation. Thirteen persons remain in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit and 126 more persons have recovered from the virus, lifting the country’s total number of recovered cases to 11,070.
