As the search continued for the suspect in the murder of Shonnette Dover, recordings of him seeking assistance to leave the country were on Saturday leaked.

Dover’s boyfriend, Shaquawn Alleyne, known as “ISWE”, is currently wanted in connection with the murder of the Canvas City, Wismar, Linden woman, whose partially decomposed body was found buried in their backyard on Friday.

Police said the body of Dover was unearthed on Friday morning after a 15-year-old, who allegedly witnessed the killing, gave investigators information that subsequently led to the discovery. Dover was reported missing four weeks ago.

Although the man had been assisting in the search to find the woman, the information given by the teen suggests that Alleyne accidentally shot and killed the woman.

Audio recordings of Alleyne and an overseas-based man whom he was trying to get to help him resettle were leaked on Saturday on social media. In the recordings, which appeared to have been made before the woman’s body was discovered, Alleyne could be heard saying that he was being stressed out by implications that he was responsible for her disappearance and that he wanted to leave the country and start over. He was cautioned against doing so as it would further fuel suspicions of his involvement in Dover’s disappearance.

On the teen witness’ direction, police officers went into action in the early hours of Friday morning and dug up the area about four feet down, and found the remains of a partially decomposed body of a female suspected to be that of the missing woman.

The police noted that due to the decomposed stated of the body, it was difficult to see any marks of violence. The remains of the deceased were taken to the Linden Hospital Complex and later transferred to the Pensioners’ Mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

The teen is in custody. Alleyne’s father, who is alleged to have helped to cover up the woman’s death, was also taken into custody.

Anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of Alleyne is asked to contact the police on telephone numbers 444-3406, 444-3297, 444-3351, 444-3512 444-24429, 442-0759, 225-3650, 226-1928, 911 or the nearest police station.

Meanwhile, Minister of Home Affairs Robeson Benn and Regional Commander Senior Superintendent Hugh Winter yesterday met with the family of the dead woman.

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) in a statement yesterday said that Benn visited the Dover family at 2.45 pm yesterday, while the Commander was accompanied by his Administrative team when he visited the family at their Linden residence earlier in the day. Three pastors from the Cops and Faith Association were a part of the team that accompanied Winter and words of comfort were offered to the family, the GPF statement said.
