New COVID cases at 136, ICU has 19 persons

Guyana on Thursday recorded 136 new cases of the novel coronavirus.

This was revealed in the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 dashboard which showed that the country’s total number of positive cases increased to 15,743. These new cases came after some 1,544 more persons were tested. The total number of persons tested to date stands at 141,712.

According to the regional distribution of confirmed cases, the new cases were reported in seven of the country’s ten administrative regions with 13 new cases in Region Three, 77 in Region Four, four in Region Five, Region Six with 15, two in Region Seven, 13 in Region Nine and 12 in Region Ten.

There are now 1,922 active cases in the country with 99 of those in institutional isolation while another 1,823 are in home isolation. The number of persons in the COVID-19 ICU has increased to 19.

Some 94 more persons have recovered thus increasing the total number of recovered cases to 13,453.
