Two more succumb to COVID, 107 newly infected

The Ministry of Health (MoH) yesterday confirmed that two more persons who were infected with COVID-19 have died.

In a statement, the MoH said that the latest fatalities are a 51-year-old woman from Region Four and a 71-year-old man from Region Nine. They both died while receiving care at a state medical facility.

With the latest fatalities, the COVID-19 death toll now stands at 424.

During the past week, according to the ministry’s statistics, 19 persons have died from COVID-19, while a total of 26 deaths have been recorded for this month so far. Last month 99 persons died.

Meanwhile, according to yesterday’s COVID-19 dashboard, 107 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed. Of those cases, 55 are from Region Four, 16 from Region Two, 12 from Region Ten, 9 from Region Three, 5 from Region Six, 4 from Region Five and 2 each from regions One, Two and Nine. The new infections were confirmed after 1,199 test were done.

The dashboard also showed that 21 persons are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit, 113 in institutional isolation, 1,495 in home isolation and 3 persons in institutional quarantine. A total of 16,250 persons who were infected with the disease have recovered to date.

Based on the dashboards from last Sunday to yesterday, 686 new cases have been confirmed from 7,939 tests that were done.
