Director of Sport, Steve Ninvalle journeyed to Berbice yesterday to have a first hand look at the Track and Field facility being constructed at Burnham Park.

Ninvalle met with Aqua Sun Designs Inc., consultant, Orin Boyce, engineer, Jason Baptiste and Ryan Ramsarran, an engineer attached to BK International.

The visit is one of several being made by the recently appointed DoS and coincides with the government’s push to deliver on promises to the sports fraternity. Ninvalle is also scheduled to visit a similar synthetic facility also under construction in Linden.

In 2018, BK International Incorporated was awarded the $141M contract for the Region 6 track still under construction at Burnham Park, in New Amsterdam, Berbice; while Builders Hardware and General Supplies secured the $179M contract for the facility at Bayroc Community Centre Ground, Wismar, Linden.

Region 10 will have an eight-lane synthetic track and field facility which will include a football pitch, security fencing, drainage and restroom among other features.
