Small goal football competition rescheduled for Sunday

The South Turkeyen Sports Committee and ‘Bannas Foundation’, Father’s-Day three-a-side small-goal football competition has been officially rescheduled for Sunday from 8:00am at the Durban Park, Tarmac, Homestretch Avenue, the committee announced in a release yesterday.

According to the correspondence, several teams from various villages from Georgetown are slated to compete in the competition.

Among the teams scheduled to compete are: Meadowbrook, Lodge, Charlestown, Sophia, Durban Street, Tiger Bay and Albouystown. An entrance fee of $1,000 per player is required to enter the tournament. Winners will receive trophies and medals as well cash prizes.

The sponsors of the event include APNU Member of Parliament and attorney-at-law Joseph Harmon, Deputy Mayor of Georgetown Alfred Mentore, Reginald Roach of Paul’s Import Distributors, Ken Phillips of Antarctic Maintenance and Repairs, P&P Insurance and Carry Cargo. The organisers are Johnny ‘Overseas’ Barnwell, and Kevin Walcott.
