Cricket in Georgetown is set to resume August 16 with several new tournaments on the front burner of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA).

This is according to the GCA Competitions Committee which  stated  that an under-17 tournament commence the resumption followed by an under-19 competition along with the continuation of all other unfinished tournaments.

In relation to on-going tournaments, action expected include semi-final action in the GISE/Star Party Rental/Trophy Stall first-division, two-day tournament along with group matches in the Noble House Seafoods second-division two-day competition and the New Building Society 40-over tournament.

A number of tournaments will also be launched shortly including under-15, U17, U19, U23, second-division T20, first-division 50-overs and first-division two-day.

The GCA halted for a second time its competitions back in early April, after just one month into its resumption due to the spiraling COVID-19 cases and was unable to resume earlier due to the rainy season.

Competitions Chairman, Shaun Massiah recalled that when the season came to an abrupt stop due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the GCA immediately got to work to draft a return to play document that was sent to all clubs. He is requesting that all clubs take note and remember to keep these guidelines along with the guidelines issued by the National COVID-19 task force into consideration.

Massiah also urged all clubs to get their venues prepared and ready once the consistent rain is over as well as inform their players.

The Competitions Committee is encouraging persons to get vaccinated and continue to follow protocols.
