Man chopped in head after rescuing woman at Linden

A man was on Monday chopped in his head and arm after he attempted to rescue a woman at Kara Kara, in Linden.

The injured man has been identified by police as Keno Griffith, a 36-year-old labourer, of Old Kara Kara, Mackenzie, Linden.

Police said their enquiries revealed that the 26-year-old suspect and a female resident of the community had a misunderstanding, during which he squeezed her breasts and she spat on him. The suspect became annoyed as a result and he threw a bucket of water on her.

Griffith, after witnessing what transpired, went to the woman’s assistance, resulting in an argument and a scuffle between him and the suspect. The suspect then armed himself with a cutlass and dealt Griffith a chop to one of his arms and one to his head.

Griffith was subsequently taken to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he was admitted as a patient in a stable condition.

The suspect, after leaving the scene, went to Linden Police Station to report the matter and was arrested.
