Gov’t ministries begin rollout of COVID-19 entry restrictions

A number of Government ministries have put out notices making it known that unvaccinated persons will be barred from entry unless an appointment is made.

According to the latest gazetted COVID-19 Emergency measures (No.20), provisions were made which stated that members of the public who wished to enter the premises of a ministry or government agency to access services, must be vaccinated.

If persons are unvaccinated, they may only be able to access those services in person by making an appointment. In the gazetted order, its states in its interpretation that “vaccinated” means receiving at least one dose of any of seven vaccines currently being used around the world.

These measures were expected to take effect from August 1 and last until August 31 unless amended. As such various ministries have put out notices in accordance with the order. The Central Housing and Planning Authority which in the past has seen a large turnout of persons to its offices, published its notice on Tuesday which stated that “No unvaccinated persons will be granted entry,” to any of its offices unless appointments are made. The notice further stated that walk-in services remained the same for vaccinated persons.

Other ministries that have so far put out notices include the Ministry of Natural Resources which stated in its notice that unvaccinated persons are required to make an appointment and present a negative Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test done within 72 hours of their visit.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Public Works, and Ministry of Labour, have also published notices on their social media pages along with the relevant information for persons to make appointments and other requirements. Those vaccinated persons who wish to visit their offices will have to present their vaccination cards along with their national identification cards.
