The annual ‘Raw National Powerlifting Championships’ has been confirmed for today at Life’s Gym and Fitness Express, Lusignan has agreed to be one of the main spotters.

CEO of Guyana’s leading supplement and gym equipment supplier, Jamie McDonald, recently presented a sponsorship cheque to president of the body, Gordon Spencer, to help shoulder some of the load of the event which is scheduled to attract the cream of the nation’s strongmen and women.

Fitness Express will also reward supplement hampers to the best overall male and female lifters.

McDonald and Fitness Express have been a perennial benefactor of athletes and events specifically of the iron and strength sports.

Meanwhile, the Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation (GAPLF) recently confirmed on its Facebook page the hosting of the annual fixture after getting the green light from the National COVID-19 Task Force.

The Facebook post stated that platform action commences at 09:00hrs prompt. 

Weigh-in and equipment check will be conducted during the period 07:00 – 08:30hrs. Additional information will be shared within the next 24 hrs. The post added: “We regret any inconvenience the delayed confirmation may have caused. We trust there is a full understanding of the current global public health crisis and the preparatory efforts required in the circumstance.
