Corentyne fisherman stabbed after defending nephew, 13

A Corentyne fisherman is now battling for his life at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital after he was stabbed on Monday morning after he defended his nephew, 13, against the alleged attacker.

Kelvin Kewley also known as “Kello”, 24, a fisherman of Lot 12 Number 65 Village, Corentyne, remained hospitalized in a serious condition as of yesterday afternoon.

According to Kewley’s brother, Melvin Kewley, the accused and his brother were at the Number 65 Village Koker preparing to head out to sea to fish, when an argument ensued just around 8 am, which quickly escalated and resulted in his brother being stabbed with a stingray bone.

According to the Police, while searches were carried out for the prime accused, it is suspected that he has escaped to Suriname.
