The United States (US) Government on Friday donated three new vehicles to the Ministry of Health (MoH).

A Nissan truck, a Nissan eight-passenger van and a Toyota ambulance, valued at US$71,000 in total, were donated through the US Department of Defense Overseas Humanitarian, Disaster, and Civic Aid Excess Property Programme.

During the handing over ceremony, held at the MoH’s Brickdam offices, US Ambassador Sarah-Ann Lynch noted that the donation was made in response to a request made by the ministry for assistance with access to patients. “We hope that they help the government serve the people of Guyana with efficiency,” she said.

According to a MoH press release, an additional component of the donation, including exam tables, a physical-therapy table, wheelchairs and blankets, with a combined value of US$45,000, recently arrived in Guyana and is currently clearing customs.

Minister of Health Dr Frank Anthony expressed his profound thank you to the US government for their continued assistance and recalled previous donations of COVID-19 vaccines and other necessities.
