Four Venezuelan females charged with attempted murder

Four Venezuelan females including two juveniles yesterday appeared in court charged with attempted murder.

Evelyn Alfonso, 22, and Roxanna Alfonso, 20, along with two juveniles, 14, and, 16, appeared before Magistrate Clive Bess to answer to the charge. Evelyn Alfonso and Roxanna Alfonso were remanded to prison.

They were not required to plead to the charge which stated that while being in the company of others they intended to commit murder by wounding the complainant, 16,.

The accused women, the court was told, previously had an altercation with the complainant. In that altercation the victim and one of the juveniles  were armed with knives.

On January 28 at about 9 am, while the victim was in the company of her aunt on Cummings Street, Georgetown, the four launched a second attack using bricks to pelt the complainant and her aunt.

A scuffle ensued during which the 16-year-old was stabbed twice in the neck. She was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital and admitted where she is currently in a stable condition.

The case has been adjourned to February 11.
