COVID death toll rises as three women succumb

Three women have been added to the country’s growing list of COVID-19 fatalities.

The Ministry of Health in a statement on Saturday confirmed the deaths of the women, ages 49, 57, and 80, who died on February 12, February 11 and February 10, respectively. The 49-year-old woman, of Region Four, was fully vaccinated, while the other two were unvaccinated.

Their deaths take the total number of deaths in Guyana from the pandemic to 1,193.

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry’s updated COVID-19 dashboard also confirmed 65 new cases of the virus from 888 more tests that were conducted.

The dashboard also confirmed that there were 2,005 active cases, including 1,927 persons in home isolation and 78 persons in institutional isolation. There were also 11 persons in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit.
