Griffith joins 300-run club

Former west Indies U19 player Trevon `Bugsy’ Griffth etched his name in the history books yesterday by becoming the four player to score a triple century in local cricket.

Playing for the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) division one finals yesterday, Griffith slammed an even 300 against a team from arch rivals the Georgetown Cricket Club. When he reached triple figures Griffith joined a band of a select few to score a triple century in Khalid Rohomon, Romain Etwaroo and David Harper.

Rohoman scored 319 for the East Indians Cricket Club (now Everest) against GCC `A’ in the 1936 Garnett Cup finals while Etwaroo scored 302  of Port Mourant’s 480-8 declared in 1973 against Skeldon and Harper 314 against DCC in 1989.
