Wong, Edghill top seeds in groups

When the singles version of this year’s Caribbean table tennis championships serves off in Cuba Saturday, Guyana’s Miguel Wong and Chelsea Edghill will be the top seeds in their groups.

In the men’s singles competition Wong is the top seed in Group Eight where he will vie along with Jamaica’s Kane Watson, Puerto Rico’s Richard Pietri and Trinidad and Tobago’s Joshua Maxwell to advance.

Wong’s compatriot Shemar Britton is the number two seed to the Dominican Republic’s Isaac Villa in Group Seven  with Jamaica’s Christopher Marsh and Haiti’s Azor Bryan, the other competitors.

Christopher Franklin is the number two seed in Group Five. The other competitors are former Caribbean men’s singles champion Samuel Galvon of the Dominican Republic, Aaron Edwards of Trinidad and Tobago and Haiti’s Paul Mackentoche .

Jonathan Van Lange, the fourth player, is the number three seed in Group Six which is headed by Barbadian Tyrese Knight. The other players in that group are Puerto Rico’s Oscar Birriel and Trinidad’s Khaleel Asgaralli.

In the women’s singles Edghill heads Group Six with the other players being Fabiola Diaz of Puerto Rico, Anthonette Riley of Barbados and Shary Munoz of the Dominican Republic.

Priscilla Greaves is the number three player in Group One and she will face Puerto Rico’s Daniely Rios and Barbadian Krystle Harvey in a bid to advance.

Natalie Cummings is seeded number two to Cuba’s Idalys Lovet in Group Three where the other players are Krystal Melendez of Puerto Rico and Tsenaye Lewis of Jamaica.

Guyana’s Trenace Lowe is the number two seed in Group Five where Esmerlyn Castro of the Dominican Republic is the top seed.

The other two players in that group are Jamaica’s Solesha Young and Trinidad’s Chloe Fraser.
