Monedderlust, Rosignol score hard-fought wins

Monedderlust and Rosignol clinched respective hard-fought wins when the third 592 Beer ‘Skills for Cash’ seven-a-side football tournament resumed Friday evening at the No. #5 Community ground, West Coast, Berbice.

Monedderlust squeaked past Airy Hall 2-1 with Stephon Moore and Paul McDonald netting in the fourth and 57th minute respectively. Airy Hall benefited from  an own goal in the 27th minute.

Meanwhile, Rosignol edged Cougars 3-2 in the opening match of the doubleheader.

Lathan Myles tallied a second half brace in the 50th and 60th minute in the come-from-behind victory. Also on target in the win was Niall Reynolds in the 44th minute. For the losers, D. Johnson and T. Williams found the back of the net in the seventh and 25th minute respectively.

The event features teams from Berbice and East Coast Demerara communities. They are: Cougar, Rosignol United, Monedderlust United, Hope Town, Number 30 Village, Number 42 Village, Paradise United, Airy Hall, Mahaica, Ann’s Grove United, Victoria Kings United, Golden Stars, Paradise, and Melanie FC. Each team will be allowed three guest players.

The winner of the event will pocket $300,000, with the second, third and fourth place finishers receiving $200,000, $100,000, and $50,000 respectively.
