Mayor’s Cup inter-ward football tournament resumes Sunday

The Mayor’s Cup inter-ward nine-a-side knockout football tournament will resume on Sunday at the Buxton Community Centre ground, East Coast Demerara, with another round of elimination fixtures.

At 6:00pm, New Amsterdam will lock horns with Turkeyen, while Airy Hall and City Strikers will take centre stage at 6:30pm. In the third encounter, Tucville will oppose Smyth Town at 7:00pm, while Timehri engages Mahaicony from 7:30pm.

Meanwhile on Sunday 24, the event resumes at the Den Amstel ground. In the opening affair, Pouderoyen takes aim at Stewartville at 2:00pm, while Sara Lodge matches skills with Back Street Kings from 2:30pm.

In the third fixture, Den Amstel battles Uitvlugt from 3:00pm, while West Side Spartans tackle Bagotville from 3:30pm. The resulting winners will advance to the second round of matches. The final match date is pegged for May 1.

The winner of the event will walk away with $600,000, while the second, third, and fourth place finishers will pocket $300,000, $200,000, and $100,000 respectively.
