Mon Repos girl who went missing now in protective custody

A 14-year-old Mon Repos girl who went missing last Tuesday from her home has since been found and is now in the care of officials at the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security’s Child Care and Protection Agency after she alleged abuse by her mother.

According to the Commander for Regional Division 4 ‘C’, Senior Superintendent Khali Pareshram, as stated in a police report, the missing teen in the company of a 19-year-old girl of Moblissa Bridge, Soesdyke/Linden Highway turned up at the Cove and John Police Station, East Coast Demerara on Saturday at about 4pm.

Pareshram said that the child during an interview with the police reported that she left her home unknown to her mother and went to the Moblissa girl’s  residence as a result of beatings she endured at the hands of her mother.

In the report, the teen stated that on the night she went missing from home, she called her mother and informed her that she had run away but her mother argued with her. As such, she decided not to call her mother again or answer any calls placed by her mother.

Following a series of posts about the child going missing on social media, the teen decided to visit the police station.
