MYO U19s beat QC by 52 runs

The Georgetown Cricket Association/ Ramchand Auto Sales/Survival Group of Companies/ Trophy Stall, Under-19 50-over tournament continued yesterday with Muslim Youth Organsation (MYO) defeating Queen’s College (QC) by 52 runs.

Playing at MYO, with the match reduced to 30 overs per side due to rain, QC won the toss and inserted the hosts who were playing with nine players. MYO posted 118 in 19.5 overs while QC were routed for 66 all out in 17.3 overs.

MYO skipper, Avinash Rajkumar top scored with 35 from 17 balls after hitting two sixes and four fours while getting support from Dillon Ramsaroop who made 34 from 65 balls, laced with three fours and two sixes. The duo added 58 for the second wicket.

Sameer Hossain chipped in with 16 from 14 balls while extras accounted for 22 runs. No other batsman reached double figures. Malachi Griffith bagged 5-32 while Reuel Prashad and Noah Persaud picked up one wicket each.

In the chase, Ramsaroop returned to pick up 3-18 with his left-arm seam while Farhan Hossain grabbed 2-5 and Rajkumar bagged 2-12.

Some 20 runs came in extras as Prashad top scored with 18 from 30 balls. His innings featured two boundaries. Griffith was the only other batsman to reach double figures with 17 from 28 balls. He struck one four and one six before being trapped leg before wicket to Ramsaroop.

Meanwhile, two more matches were scheduled for the Queen’s College Ground but both matches were washed out. 4R Lions were set to face GT XI while DCC were billed to battle Malteenoes Sports Club.
