MYO brush aside QC by 100 runs

Muslim Youth Organization (MYO) recorded a 100-run win over Queen’s College (QC) on Saturday in the Georgetown Cricket Association/New Building Society 40 overs, second-division tournament.

At QC Ground, MYO won the toss and opted to bat first, piling up 320 for seven from their allotted 40 overs. QC would reply with 220 all out in 33 overs.

MYO’s opening pair of Zeynul Ramsammy and Sagar Hatiramani gave their side a solid start with a 120-run partnership. The former national youth captain, Ramsammy, worked his way to the top score of 76, his innings featuring eight fours and one six while Hatiramani made 53. His innings was laced with six fours and one six.

Their foundation would lead to a late flurry by Yokini Favorite, who cracked five sixes and five fours which propelled him to 60 not out. Omesh Dhaniram also got amongst the runs with 55, seven fours and two sixes highlighting the ordeal. Carl Kumar took 3-41 and Mohammed Nassir bagged 2-50 for QC.

In reply, Anthon Lim was the only batsman with stability, hitting six sixes and nine fours during his top score of 93. M. McCalman (33) and Sunil Ramlall (23) were the other batsman to get starts but failed to carry on.

Jonathan Rampersaud followed up his 18 with the bat to take 3-40 with his off-spin. He was supported by left-arm spinner, Farhan Hussain with 2-32.
