Romeo Hunter came, saw hunted and conquered a strong bodybuilding field in Linden last night.

The 15-year-old took his sharp physique to the Mining Town and sliced through the fierce competition to win the coveted Novices Championship overall trophy at Lichas Hall.

Switching his singlet for a posing trunks, tan and oil, the Unity Gym standout, who has recently broken several powerlifting records, was the brightest star among the young musclemen.

The teen had a dominant showing as he posed and flexed his way to two other first place trophies en route to capturing the overall title.

Hunter, won the Junior Bodybuilding segment and also the under 154 class before defeating a game line up of category winners which included Miguel Robert (under 143 pounds), Ronel Parris (under 165 pounds), Royan Purandat (under 176 pounds) and Bertlon Halley (177 pounds and over).

Men’s Physique

It was not an easy choice, but the judges awarded the Men’s Physique showdown trophy to Shahan Bacchus of Azam Gym ahead of Universal Gym’s, Shavin Green and Unity Gym’s Sweet Sajar.

Among the group of 11 physique competitors, Bacchus, clad in an eye catching board shorts, brought the shape and stage presence the judges most wanted to see.

Like Green and Sajar, the 22 year-old was confident, well-proportioned, well muscled and not overly conditioned. The first timers really put on a show and the level of competition continues to rise especially in the flourishing Men’s Physique class.

 Bikini

Cassia Fitzpatrick, another standout from Unity Gym, was the near perfect mix of muscularity, symmetry, beauty and style and took home the spoils for the category ahead of her worthy opponent, Shinana Liverpool .

The confident 25-year-old will now have her sights set on perhaps the Intermediate Championships, the flagship National Seniors Championships and even Regional competitions later this year.

 Mr. and Ms. Linden

Meanwhile, Liverpool won the Ms. Linden Best Legs and the Wellness competition, while Omissi Williams prevailed in the Mr. Linden competition once again.

Romelton Shelton won the Men’s Fitness event, while Joshua Alexander took the spoils in the Junior Men’s Physique class.

The annual fixture, which was held with a viewing audience for the first time since the onset of the pandemic, was sponsored by Fitness Express and the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sport.

Next up on the local competition calendar is the Intermediate Championships scheduled for sometime in the third quarter of the year. It was announced that the  flagship National Senior Championships is billed for December.
