Dissimilar wins highlighted the commencement of the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Senior Men’s League, as Fruta Conquerors and Black Pearl made positive starts on Sunday at the Eve Leary ground.
National two-time champion Fruta Conquerors edged home side the Guyana Police Force (GPF) 2-1. Samuel Garnett registered a second half brace in the 67th and 71st minute. On target for the home side was Junior Redmond in the 56th minute.
On the other hand, Black Pearl crushed Order and Discipline 7-1. Shamar Kolen tallied a helmet trick in the 30th, 68th, 69th, and 78th minute, Lomell Johnson, Joshua Samuels, and Peter Simon netted in the 23rd, 54th and 58th minute respectively. For the loser, Akeem Baird netted in the 26th minute.
The tournament continues tomorrow at the same venue. At 18:00hr, Riddim Squad will oppose GT Panthers, while Northern Rangers engage Western Tigers from 20:00hrs.
