Two hurt in Suddie accident

A driver is  battling for his life at the Suddie Public Hospital after the car he was in plunged into a trench at Exmouth, Essequibo Coast in Region Two.

The driver, who was identified as Brently George was said to be speeding. The incident occurred around 10 on Thursday morning. According to information, George  was heading south when he lost control. A woman, her newborn and another passenger were also in the car. The newborn was thrown from the car but escaped serious injury. However, the mother and the driver sustained injuries. The driver suffered a broken arm and ribs while the mother was bleeding profusely. She had recently undergone a caesarean operation.

“We heard the loud impact and when we rushed out we saw the baby outside [the car and] the mother was crying out,” an eyewitness recounted.

A passing vehicle picked up the passengers and driver and rushed them to hospital.

Police are continuing their investigations.
