`Sixhead’ Lewis national c/ships to see return of Republican Gym

The Andrew ‘Sixhead’ Lewis National Novices Championship returns this week to its familiar stomping grounds, the National Gymnasium.

After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the event recommences on Friday from 18:00hrs.

These and other details were disclosed yesterday by Technical Director of the Guyana Boxing Association (GBA), Terrence Poole.

Poole told this publication that the three-day fixture is schedule to attract in excess of 50 boxers who will be lacing up the gloves for bragging rights and trophies.

He also stated that the weigh-in and medical will be conducted on Thursday at the Gymnasium from 16:00hrs.

The GBA’s point man further mentioned that this weekend’s activity will usher in the return of the Republican (Prisons) Boxing Gym and the Guyana Police Force Gym.

Other gyms expected to compete are Young Achievers, Vergenoogen, Forgotten Youth Foundation, Guyana Defence Force, Rosehall Jammers and the Pace and Power Gym.

The Guyana Defence Force are the defending champions.
