Following discussions that were held a year ago, residents of Swan Village on the Linden/ Soesdyke Highway are soon to be the beneficiaries of improved water supply.
A statement yesterday from the Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) said that drilling of the new well has commenced and should be completed in a month.
GWI said that the existing water distribution system at Swan is a low- producing one and cannot supply the entire village adequately. As such, a site visit was conducted by GWI one year ago, where it was determined that the community needed a new well. As such, work towards this end was initiated.
The pipe distribution network to serve the community will be outfitted with stand pipes at a later date, GWI said.
A Memorandum of Understanding is expected to be drawn up and signed between GWI and the village.
