The Police Association has provided assistance to Lance Corporal Alpha Daniels, whose West Ruimveldt home was destroyed by fire just over a week ago.

At a simple handing over ceremony at the Police Association at Eve Leary, the 25-year-old woman was presented with a complete bed set, a food voucher redeemable at Mattai’s Supermarket, a quantity of clothes and other household supplies.

The Guyana Fire Service (GFS) had previously reported that its investigations revealed that the fire was an act of arson.

A press release from the GFS stated that it had received a call at 09:47 hrs on Wednesday, July 6, and was alerted to a fire at Lot 389 Coralita Street, West Ruimveldt, Georgetown.

As a result, three water tenders from the Central and West Ruimveldt Fire Stations were immediately dispatched to fight the flames that eventually destroyed the one-flat wooden and concrete building.

The building was occupied by the Lance Corporal and her 22-year-old brother, Shamar Daniels.
