Cops charged with trafficking ganja at CID HQ

Two Guyana Police Force (GPF) ranks were yesterday released on bail in the sum of $200,000 after being charged with trafficking narcotics at the headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Eve Leary, Georgetown.

Andre Roland, 25, a Police Lance Corporal of the Tactical Service Unit (TSU) of Lot 305 Foulis, East Coast Demerara (ECD) and Kevin Bobb, 38, a Police Corporal of Lot 1204 Amelia’s Ward Linden, were both hauled before Senior Magistrate Leron Daily at the Georgetown Magistrate’s court.

The charge against the duo states that on June 14, at the CID Headquarters, Eve Leary, Georgetown, they trafficked in a narcotic, that is to say 680 grammes of cannabis.

Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge and were released on $100,000 bail each, along with condition that they report to the Major Crimes Headquarters every other Monday at 09:00 hrs until the conclusion of the proceedings against them.

The matter was adjourned until October 7.
