Christianburg/Wismar, Golden Grove and Cummings Lodge register wins

Golden Grove, and Cummings Lodge recorded opening day wins in the third Guyoil/Tradewind Tankers Secondary Schools Football League yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

Christianburg/Wismar Secondary mauled West Ruimveldt 5-0. Daniel Adolph led the rout with a double in the 42nd and 65th minute while Devon Gilbert, Amali King, and Darnell Warner found the back of the net in the 25th, 29th and 40th minute respectively.

Similarly, Golden Grove crushed Friendship 4-0. Yannick Williams bagged a double in the third and 70th minute whilst Kelon Croal, and Omarion Burrowes netted in the 21st, and 72nd minute respectively.

On the other hand, Cummings Lodge edged North Ruimveldt 4-3. Antwan Samuel tallied a brace in the 11th and 13th minute while Fabian Figueria registered a double in the 37th and 38th minute. For the losers, Kwali Ifill scored twice in the 34th and 52nd minute while an own goal in the 35th minute added to the score.

The tournament is set to conclude on November 6. All fixtures will be hosted at the Ministry of Education ground in Thomas Lands, Georgetown.

The winner of the tournament will receive $500,000 towards a school project and the championship trophy. The second, third, and fourth place finishers will pocket $300,000, $200,000, and $100,000 respectively towards an initiative.

On the individual side, awards will also be presented for the Most Valuable Player, Highest Goal Scorer, and Best Goalkeeper. The top two finishers in the event will qualify for the Goodwill International Championship.
