East Coast Guinness `Greatest of the Streets’ back after two-year hiatus

Forced to a two year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ East Coast Edition, is scheduled to kick-off on October 28th at the Haslington Tarmac, with the qualifying leg set for Sunday at the same venue.

This was confirmed by the Guinness Brand Executive Lee Baptiste. According to Baptiste, “We have already played in Linden and Berbice so we are now returning to the East Coast. Because of the Covid-19 situation, there was uncertainty and the usual schedule and routine was not adhered to. From next year everything will return to normal.”

He added that additional details will be confirmed shortly.

The 16-team competition, which will utilize an elimination format, will last for the duration of three days. The dates are October 28th (Round of 16), 29th (Quarterfinal), and November 5th (semi-final and final). The first night will feature the round of 16 section, with the second night hosting the quarterfinal round.

The final night will feature the semi-final stage, third place playoff and championship encounter respectively.

The automatic eight teams are: Defending champion Melanie-B, Liliendaal Hustlers, Belfield Warriors, Paradise-A, BV-A, Victoria Church Yard, Buxton Diamond, and Uprising. The other eight teams will be established after the end of the qualifiers. Presently, the Linden and Berbice legs have been hosted.

Defending champion Swag Entertainment successfully retained the Linden title, while Showtime captured their maiden Berbice championship.
