So says the prized pugilist who headlined the last mega boxing event which was held at the National Stadium in April.

Dharry told Stabroek Sport on Wednesday that negotiations are ongoing with the boxing board, the Ministry of Sport, and other sponsors, to make the fight a reality either on Boxing Day or early January.

The orthodox fighter is the mandatory challenger to England’s Prince Patel’s belt and he is eager to put on a show once again in front of the local fans after unanimously defeating a game Orlando Penalba for the vacant WBC super-flyweight International title seven months ago.

Said Dharry on Wednesday, “It’s an exciting time for boxing in Guyana to have the British Commonwealth title fight. So that is something that really motivates me to train hard.”

The USA-based Dharry who was recently in the 592 added “ It is a great opportunity for me to fight at home in a big fight and it would be good for Guyana and its boxing as well, but right now I can only do what is in my power and that is stay training and staying focused.”

Dharry, 36, stated that he has his hard hat on in Gleason’s Gym with the intent to improve his record which stands at 26-6-1 whenever he gets his opportunity to face Patel.

“I am unsure if it will be Boxing Day or January 2, but whatever is the date, I am excited to be back in the ring soon.”

Dharry then disclosed that his ultimate aim is still to capture the elusive world title. Defeating Patel, 29, of Britain will put him back on the road for another crack at the world title.

In 2019, Dharry fought for the WBA Super flyweight title. However, he lost to Andrew Maloney in the latter’s hometown of Melbourne, Australia in a controversial ninth-round stoppage after the ring side doctor stopped the bout due to an eye injury. Dharry was displeased with the decision and insisted that he was dominating the fight.
