Weather forces GCB to cancel U13 Inter County tournament

Heavy rainfall has forced the Guyana Cricket Board to cancel its Inter-County U13 tournament.

The inaugural 40-overs-a-side tournament, was scheduled to begin November 29 at the Albion Community Development Centre but was rescheduled to commence on December 3 at the Everest Cricket Club ground.

However, the GCB was forced to cancel the tournament due to inclement weather, a release from the GCB stated.

The GCB has decided to play a series of trial matches at the National Gymnasium and in the first match on Saturday

Demerara defeated Essequibo in a T20 encounter by five runs.

Essequibo won the toss and elected to field, restricting Demerara to 136 for four from their allotted overs.

Opener Lomar Seecharran top scored with a well-composed innings of 56 while Khush Seegobin chipped in with 37 and Jamaine Grosvenor 31. Fast bowler Darious Pearson claimed 2 for 20 while Joseph  Bholo took 1 for 10. Pearson returned to top score for Essequibo with 48 while middle-order batsman Justin Henry contributed 20 and opener Ethan Silva 16.

Left-arm pacer Thierry Davise took 3 for 23 and right-arm pacer Patrice Frazer 2 for 23. Ganesh Appanah, Rayad Latif and Joshua Bollers   each captured a wicket as 

Essequibo ended on 131 all out, five runs short of their target from 18.3 overs.
