Tiger Rentals Guyana has once again partnered with the Petra Organization in their bid to stage the 3rd KFC Goodwill Football Championship by sponsoring the impending participation of the St Benedict College of Trinidad and Tobago.

Manager of Tiger Rentals Guyana, Shane Singh, said that the company is proud to be a part of the tournament for the second time, while noting that it is a big advocate of sports development especially at the youth level.

He further disclosed that Tiger Rentals Guyana, which is a major contributor to sports in Trinidad and Tobago, the home of the parent entity, plans to expand its local sports portfolio in 2023 to include other disciplines.

Meanwhile, Co-Director of the Petra Organization, Troy Mendonca, thanked the company for once again supporting this developmental initiative which is seen as evidence that they share the same vision for the development of sport.

Mendonca informed that the international schools are expected to arrive on the 12th and 13th respectively, ahead of the event’s start on the 14th, adding that the National Training Centre in Providence is being considered as a backup option if the weather renders the Ministry of Education ground, the original venue for the competition, unplayable.

According to Mendonca, the expectation given the recent conclusion of the schools league, is for Guyana’s representation to perform credibly during the competition.

The event, which will be from December 14 to 23, will utilise an initial group stage, with the six competing schools being divided into two zones of three each.

Group-A comprises newcomer St. Benedict College of Trinidad and Tobago, Golden Grove, and DC Caesar Fox [formerly Waramadong]. Group-B contains GuyOil League winner Christianburg/Wismar, Annai Secondary and SVB Academy of Suriname.

At the conclusion of the group round, the top two finishers in each pool will advance to the semi-final section. The competition is pencilled to be staged at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue, in Georgetown.
