One of the Guyana’s rarest bodybuilding gems, Rosanna Fung will make her final appearance as an amateur Wellness athlete on Sunday at the National Cultural Centre.

The statuesque 23 year-old who will be “dipping her toes” into the professional ranks next year, plans to make her swan song at the National Senior Champion-ships memorable.

“This package will be unforgettable” Fung said yesterday.

The aesthetic muscle woman earned three gold medals in July at the CAC Championships staged in Barbados en route to earning her ‘Pro Card’.

Despite her success, she plans to run laps around her last award package.

“I’m always trying to beat my best and so the intensity of each prep never decreases. I develop a tunnel vision where “MY” physique is my number one focus and if I can beat my last package, I’ll have already won in my head and this prep is no different.”

Despite putting in countless hours on her craft in and out the weight and cardio rooms, Fung stated this current contest prep has been her best yet due to better understanding her body.

“This prep has definitely been the least taxing considering how well I have managed to maintain leanness from CAC and the improvements I’ve been with the judges critiques from said show . I have a much better understanding of my body and I can say with almost 90% accuracy how it will respond to different protocols so that has made this prep a lot easier . Knowledge is power I guess.”

Fung then had a word for the bodybuilding fans of the 592.

“ To the potential audience I want to encourage you all to come out this is going to be one of the most entertaining, memorable National Senior bodybuilding competitions ever held and with each passing year all of our athletes have developed their physiques as well so this is definitely not the show you want to miss.

Quizzed on her short term goals following the flagship National Seniors Championship, Fung disclosed that “For 2023, I will be dipping my toe in the deep end.  I’m aiming to do two pro shows before March so this current prep is a prelude to my first pro show package.”

The popular personal trainer also plans to use her platform to positively influence the youth and promote health and fitness.

“The goal for 2023 is to make a name for myself on an international front and use my ‘pro card ship’ and my influence to encourage more young people to follow their dreams and not sell themselves short. I want them to believe in their abilities and strive for greatness because with enough discipline and elbow grease, everything is possible.

Additionally Fung added, “To grow and learn as an individual, over the past few years competing I have learned so much about showmanship, my body and how it responds to change. My mentality and how it handles stress and I still feel I have so much more to learn. There is always room for improvement.”

In conclusion, the Pro athlete thanked her supporters, her ‘little rosebuds’, loved ones, fans and her sponsors for making her fitness dream become a reality.

On the highly anticipated night, doors are set to open from 18:00hrs and tickets cost $2500. See you there. (Emmerson Campbell)
