Kevin Sinclair ended the second Guyana Harpy Eagles match with a fine half-century that inspired Tevin Imlach’x XI to a 143-run win over Gudakesh Motie’s XI despite Anthony Bramble’s half-century.

On Friday at the National Stadium, Providence, Imlach’s XI resumed on 167 for four, already 177 runs ahead. They eventually were bowled out for 300 in 81.1 overs before bowling out Motie’s XI for 167 in 39.2 overs.

Kevlon Anderson converted his overnight tally of 18 to 29 from 93 balls before he fell to off-spinner, Richie Looknauth.

Antony Adams

This brought Kevin Sinclair to the crease who smashed three sixes and nine fours on his way to 74 from 88 balls. He added 88 for the seventh wicket with Akshaya Persaud who went on to make 31 from 77 balls, hitting three fours and a six but his innings came to an end when he was bowled by Looknauth.

The off-spinner also removed Clinton Pestano (10) and Demetri Cameron (2) to end with 4-87.

Anthony Bramble

Meanwhile, in Motie’s second innings, Bramble looked to bring his team glory with a gritty 55 from 44 balls. His innings featured four sixes and six fours and he  shared in a 59-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Sachin Singh who made 10. Rampertab Ramnauth was the only other batsman to score more than 13 runs, making a 41-ball 35 which was highlighted by six boundaries.

Left-arm spinner, Antony Adams bagged 4-25 while Sinclair returned with his off-spin to take 4-54.

At the end of the practice matches, the Guyana Cricket Board selectors selected the 13-man squad for the upcoming West Indies Regional Four-Day championship where at least two players will make their First-Class debut.

Kemol Savory (210 runs) and Matthew Nandu (152 runs) were the most prolific batsman and fittingly earned their maiden call ups to the First Class four-day set up while Shamar Joseph also got his first call up after being the most potent seamer on show. Left-arm spinner Ashmead Nedd was the only other newcomer to the squad.

The rest of the squad reads: Leon Johnson (captain), Veerasammy Permaul (vice-captain), Chandrapaul Hemraj, Sinclair, Imlach, Persaud, Ronsford Beaton, Bramble and Nial Smith.

The management team will be led by Ryan Hercules as head coach, his deputy Garvin `Tibbsy’ Nedd, Manager, Albert Clements, Analyst Keshava Ramphal and physiotherapist Angelica Holder.

The reserves are Mavindra Dindyal, Adams, Cameron, Anderson and Looknauth.

Eagles will open their campaign against defending Champions, Barbados Pride from February 1-4 in Antigua before facing Windward Islands Volcanoes in Grenada from February 8-11.
