Top teams set for Legendary Cup semis showdown

Powerhouses Sparta Boss, Back Circle, Bent Street and Tiger Bay secured their semi-final berths for Saturday evening, after clinching quarter-final victories in the inaugural Rocks Auto Trans and Spares Parts ‘Legendary Cup’ Futsal Championship on Tuesday evening.

Hosted at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue, Sparta Boss overcame a 0-1 deficit to prevail 3-1 over Beterverwagting (BV). Pernell Schultz fashioned a double in the 24th and 25th minute while an own goal added to the score in the 10th minute. For the losers Neron Barrow netted in the eighth minute.

The Spartans will now oppose Back Circle in a titanic clash after the latter squeaked past Stabroek Ballers 4-3. Jermaine Beckles led the East Ruimveldt outfit with a double in the eighth and 23rd minute, with Simeon Moore and Stephon McLean adding goals in the 20th and 22nd minute respectively.

On the other side, the trio of Bevny McGarrell, Mark Jhalu and Dorwin George netted in the 11th, 21st, and 28th minute respectively. Bent Street and Tiger Bay will face-off in the other semi-final fixture following wins over Vengy and Gold is Money respectively.

Bent Street downed Vengy 4-0. Daniel Wilson tallied a brace in the 28th and 30th minute while Trayon Bobb and Tyrese Dennis assisted with conversions in the fourth and sixth minute respectively. Similarly, Tiger Bay dismissed Gold is Money 3-0. Deon Alfred was the primary threat with a hat-trick in the 17th, 18th, and 27th minute.  The semi-final section will commence on Saturday at the same venue from 20:00hrs. The resulting winners will progress to the final which is penciled for February 25th.

The winner of the tournament will pocket $500,000 and the championship trophy. On the other hand, the second, third, and fourth-place finishers will receive $250,000, $150,000, and $100,000 respectively.

On the individual side, the Most Valuable Player (MVP) will receive one motorcycle. Similarly, a patron will receive one motorcycle on the night of the final. Below features the complete list of results and fixtures.
