Eagles defeated Castrol Strikers 2-0 to win the Demerara Volleyball Association (DVA) ‘Spike Spree’ One Championship on Sunday evening at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.
Following an arduous preliminary campaign, and eventual semi-final matches, both teams advanced to the final to contest for the coveted title. Due to the constraints of time, the final utilized a best two-in-three format.
The Eagles unit claimed the first set by a 28-26 score. They then completed the hard-fought win following another closely contested set, as they prevailed 30-28 in the second stanza.
The tournament featured several teams under the jurisdiction of the DVA.
