A motorcyclist and his pillion rider are hospitalised after a collision with a minibus yesterday, on the West Demerara.

A police press release said that the incident occurred around 04:25 hrs yesterday on Uitvlugt public road, West Coast Demerara. It involved minibus PTT 6561, driven by 47-year-old Lall Lekram of Zeeburg and a motorcycle driven by 21-year-old Jamarr Levans of Tuschen with  Kayle Livan, 17, of Cornelia Ida, as pillion rider.

The police said enquiries disclosed that the minibus was proceeding east along the northern side of the road and the motorcycle was proceeding in the same direction at a fast speed. It is alleged that the minibus driver changed the course of direction to go south, and the motorcycle collided with the right rear wheel of the minibus.

The motorcyclist and pillion rider fell onto the road surface and sustained bodily injuries. They were picked up by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital, where they were seen and examined by a doctor on duty and transferred to the West Demerara Regional Hospital. Both of them were admitted to the hospital with head injuries.
