As the Local Government Elections (LGE)  date of June 12 edges closer, the joint services, as is the norm, will cast their ballots earlier, on June 2.

The joint services votes number some 9,093..

All votes are set to be cast in 84 ballot stations across the country according to information from the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM).

GECOM has informed that there is a prepared list of who should be voting where. This is available to the public both online and in hard copy.

“We are on track, everything has been set for disciplined services balloting”, GECOM Public Relations Officer, Yolanda Ward, stated yesterday.

Ward explained they are ready, staff is in place, ballots have arrived in the country, and all logistical aspects are being finalized.

“So, we have completed all those preparations including the appointment of staff; who will be appointed as ballot attendants and so on for the respective balloting stations.”

Election 2023 was not without controversy, from a vacant position filled in GECOM to the alleged forging of the names of representatives on lists that were submitted.
