Kwakwani, NA Multilateral and Leonora Secondary are YBG Conference Champions

Kwakwani, New Amsterdam Multilateral and Leonora Secondary secured respective divisional titles Friday in the Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) ‘Conference Championships’.

In the Linden Regional final, Kwakwani whipped Christianburg/Wismar 110-62. Kelon Phillips and Kasim English tallied 37 and 23 points in the lopsided contest while

Teishawn Kitt recorded 32 points for Vhristianburg/Wismar.

In the Berbice Conference final, New Amsterdam Multilateral crushed hosts Berbice High 41-26. Eventual divisional MVP Xavier Ferreira led the way with 13 points whilst Jared Dainty and Timothy Rampersaud added 10 points each.

On the other hand, Leonora defeated West Demerara 36-20 at the Tuschen Court in the West Demerara Divisional championship. Daniel Williams led the victor with 13 points, whilst Trevaughn Parris recorded 12 points and nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, in the Georgetown Conference quarterfinals at the St. Stanislaus College hard court, Government Technical Institute (GTI), St. Stanislaus College, the Bishops’ High, and St. Rose’s High secured semi-final berths, following lopsided wins.

GTI crushed Chase Academy 62-29. Peter Langevine tallied 11 points and six rebounds, whilst Daniel Howell added 10 points and five rebounds. Chipping in with eight points and five rebounds was Javier St. Clair. For Chase Academy, Jonathan Sanmoogan netted 12 points.

Similarly, St. Stanislaus College mauled Queen’s College 61-22. Brandon McKoy top scored with 17 points whilst Alafin Joseph tallied 12 points and six rebounds. Adding 10 points and six rebounds was Joel King. For Queen’s College, Francois Myers netted nine points. Likewise, St. Rose’s High downed North Georgetown 31-19. Chad Martin top scored with 26 points while Dhanesh Persaud scored seven points and five steals for North Georgetown.

Also, the Bishops’ High downed Marian Academy 44-28. Mathias Arrindell registered 18 points and five rebounds whilst Daniel Bailey supported with 13 points. For Marian Academy, Jaden Simon bagged a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds.

The semi-final section in the Georgetown segment is scheduled for today at the same venue. St. Stanislaus College will oppose St. Rose’s High at 14:30hrs whilst GTI will engage the Bishops’ High from 15:30hrs.
