Mackenzie, Queen’s College, and Kwakwani among winners in Basketball Festival

Mackenzie High Queen’s College, and Diamond Secondary recorded wins in the Boy’s U16 division, whilst Kwakwani stormed to win in the U14 section, when the ExxonMobil National School Basketball Festival continued yesterday at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.

Mackenzie High brushed aside Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) Academy 30-19. Gemear Green and Tyrol Lamazon scored 14 and seven points respectively. For the loser, Freddie Ricos accumulated nine points and eight rebounds.

Similarly, Queen’s College crushed North Georgetown 34-17. Owen Hooper amassed 16 points and four rebounds, whilst Ezekiel Griffith added 10 points. For the loser, Gladwyn Brandis tallied seven points and as many rebounds.

Likewise, Diamond crushed Charlestown 28-8. Benkhai King tallied 16 points and six rebounds in the rout.

Meanwhile, Kwakwani dismantled the Bishops’ High 41-14. Simeon Sinclair recorded eight points and four rebounds, whilst Marlon Mendonca added seven points. Supporting with five points and five rebounds was Lenrick Seaforth. For the loser, Quasie Newton netted four points.

In other results, Queen’s College edged President’s College 13-11 in the U14 segment, whilst St. Rose’s High defeated Patentia via walkover in the U16 section.

The event, which is organized by YBG, is also supported by the National Sports Commission, Edward B Beharry Ltd, and G-Boats GY.
