Boxing starved fans will have to wait a bit longer to have their hunger satiated by prized pugilist, Elton Dharry.

According to the USA based fighter, he is now scheduled to be back in the ring in mid-October where the WBC Silver belt will be on the line.

Dharry had initially inked a contract to fight this past Saturday against Mexican, Hugo Hernandez but an ankle injury sustained on June 3 in the headline fight of the ‘Return of the Scorpion” card at the National Gymnasium forced a postponement of the event.

In an interview with this publication yesterday, Dharry stated that he is back in training although there is still some amount of pain being felt in the left ankle. He however should be ready by mid-October to step back in the ring and put on a polished performance after showing some ring rust against his last opponent, Colombian journeyman, Ronald Ramos who took him the distance.

“I am eager to get back in the ring”, Dharry, 37, told this publication yesterday. “I know I don’t have a whole lot of years left in me.”

Dharry whose record improved to 27-6-1, is perhaps one fight away from a world title shot.

Winning that super flyweight encounter against Hernandez will make Dharry the mandatory challenger for the WBC World title. The slick orthodox puncher is well aware that Father Time is ticking on his career and will no doubt pull out all the stops to get the ‘W’ when he steps into the ring against Hernandez.

What is certain however, is that he has to improve by leaps and bounds if he is to win his impending WBC Silver Belt title fight after a pedestrian, often dull performance last month against Ramos, 46, who had lost six of his last seven fights.

“I am gunning for the Hernandez fight and I know I will put on a better performance. I had some minor neck and the ankle issues but I do not want to make any excuses, I will be much sharper next time, I have to be” Dharry concluded.
