Dolphin, Waramuri, West Ruimveldt, and St. Ignatius recorded lopsided victories when the Round of 32 segment in the Digicel Schools Football Championship commenced yesterday at the Ministry of Education (MOE) and National Insurance Scheme (NIS) grounds, Carifesta Avenue.

At the NIS ground, Georgetown champion Dolphin thrashed Brickdam 16-1. Similarly, West Ruimveldt dismantled Friendship 14-0.

Over at the MOE venue, Region #9 winner St. Ignatius made light work of President’s College, winning by an 11-0 score. In a similar fashion, Waramuri crushed Vryman’s Erven 5-0.

In other results, Tucville crushed Belladrum 4-0, and Carmel edged Region #8 champion Kato on sudden death penalty kicks, after regulation time ended 2-2.

The event will also continue today and tomorrow with the remaining matches in the section.

Winner of the competition will receive $1,000,000 towards a school project and the championship trophy, while the second, third, and fourth place finishers will pocket $500,000, $300,000, and $200,000 respectively towards a school initiative and the corresponding trophies.
