Charity charges into round of 16 with 8-0 drubbing of Marian Academy

Charlestown, Charity, Mahaicony Technical Institute (MTI), and Westminster stormed into the round of 16 section following victories yesterday in the Digicel Schools Football Championship.

At the National Track and Field Centre, Leonora, Charles-town downed home side Leonora 4-1. Andrew Carto and Malachi Barker scored in the 19th and 49th minute apiece while own goals in the 61st and 70th minute added to the eventual score.

For the loser, Findlay Miggins netted in the 78th minute. On the other hand, Region #3 champion West-minster defeated North Ruimveldt 5-3. Samuel McAllister bagged a brace in the seventh and 22nd minute, whilst Tyrese Johnson, Harold Haynes, and Khy Austin netted in the 30th, 32nd, and 35th minute apiece.

For North Ruimveldt, Jevon Pluck tallied a brace in the 75th and 87th minute, whilst Calvin Bowlin scored in the 71st minute.

Over at the National Insurance Scheme (NIS) ground, Georgetown, Region #2 winner Charity swamped Marian Academy 8-0. Oundra Sobers and Enrique Edwards led the victors with respective hat-tricks.

Sobers etched his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 27th, 35th, and 60th minute, whilst Edwards tallied his conversions in the 24th, 38th, and 67th minute. Assisting with goals in the second and 20th minute were Aron and Dwayne Williams.

Meanwhile, MTI overcame Tutorial Academy 4-2. The quartet of Hiswar Kiene, Dawad Wilson, Jaheim Drakes, and Ezekiel Abel netted in the 10th, 21st, 66th, and 78th minute respectively. On target in the loss were Dane Singh and Kadeem Henry in the 24th and 39th minute apiece.

Also, Berbice Educational Institute (BEI) edged Queen’s College 1-0. Daniel Arthur found the back of the net in the 15th minute. The round of 16 section will commence tomorrow at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
